China blows past Denmark, Germany, Spain and the United States to become the world’s largest maker of Wind Turbines.
This is why we need the Senate to pass a clean energy, climate and green jobs bill now:
“China vaulted past competitors in Denmark, Germany, Spain and the United States last year to become the world’s largest maker of wind turbines, and is poised to expand even further this year.”
“China has also leapfrogged the West in the last two years to emerge as the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels. And the country is pushing equally hard to build nuclear reactors and the most efficient types of coal power plants.”
“These efforts to dominate renewable energy technologies raise the prospect that the West may someday trade its dependence on oil from the Mideast for a reliance on solar panels, wind turbines and other gear manufactured in China.”
You won’t hear me saying “Good for China” very often. In fact, this is probably the first time I have written or even thought those words. But what I know is this… If there is any one country that the United States likes to compete with, it’s China. We already know that President Obama has said that the country who wins at the Renewable Energy Economy, wins at the Global Economy.
China, keep pumping out those wind turbines, as long as you do that, we won’t be far behind.

I don’t think you get it. The US funded this for CHina, by letting 8 out of every 10 subsidized dollars go to China. We created jobs in China, instead of here in the USA. What is Obama thinking….no wonder CHU is helping China.
But what I find unbelievable is that the idiots who support wind turbines, like Appalachian Voices, and Appalachian State University, don’t want coal mining, but to make turbines you have to rare earth elements. Rare earth elements require some of the most destructive mining processes….in China these mines are run by violent gangs. There may be a mine like this in California in the future.
They are speaking out of both sides of their mouths and showing us it is all about the green of MONEY. Disgusting.
Ridgekeeper, what are these “Rare Earth Elements” that you mentioned?
Adam: goto this link.
It should provide the information you are looking for: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/09/china-tightens-control-over-rare-earth-metals-vital-for-green-technology.php
Ridgekeeper – Keep it coming. I like your style!
Largely due to the same two factors that fueled China’s growth over the past 20 years – lower cost labor and less environmental regulation – the Chinese have turned their manufacturing power to wind and solar. Just as we have seen the electronics industry completely move offshore, it’s no surprise that these industries thrive there too.
And while it would be nice to have the jobs here (that’s difficult due to previously mentioned factors) the bottom line is that every dollar spent building a renewable power generation infrastructure reduces the money now being spent on petroleum products, which are non-renewable and generate pollution.
