The Blue Box company specializes in water purification for rural areas in developing countries and disaster relief.

From Flight to location it can be deployed within 5 days, and the unit can be installed in 7 hours.

All the science says that our climate will change.  People who live in the poorer areas of the world will be more effected by those alternations.   One of the hold ups on negotiating text here in Copenhagen is the extent to which developed countries will accept their “historical responsibility” for taking up “space in the atmosphere” with their CO2 emissions (per G77 and the Chinese delegation), and adequately fund an adaptation and mitigation fund to aid developing countries in meeting the challenges presented by climate change.

One of the biggest challenges, one that economic development has thus far been unable to meet with out any mention of climate change, is that of infrastructure.

Infrastructure is the simplest form of mitigating and adapting to climate change.  Infrastructure is also lacking for things as simple as clean water and sewage in many developing countries.  Solutions for fresh water like those provided by the Blue Box will be unimaginably important in coming years. When a natural disaster happens, sufficient relief is never available right away.  Countries must wait for media coverage and then for aid to flood in to NGOs who then deploy relief.  It often takes days, if countries are lucky, or weeks.

The creators of Blue Box say they are now looking to partner with solar and wind energy firms to power their machines to make their water purification systems completely carbon neutral.

The Box can be shipped from Denmark to sites in 4 to 5 days and deployed within 7 hours.
