In it’s efforts to place patents on life and control the global food market, Monsanto is not only feared by farmers, but by consumers as well.
- Yesterday we ran an article entitled Report: Monsanto Corn Causes Organ Damage in Mammals. That article created a flurry of Internet activity with over 500 Twitter ReTweets, 100 Facebook Shares, over a dozen websites picking it up (Including the Huffington Post) and thousands of people coming to our site.
But this latest news is just the tip of the iceberg. Monsanto, an industry agri-business seed giant has been on our radar screen for quite a while.
- We were one of the first ones to run the full length feature documentary “The World According To Monsanto,“ for free on our website.
This is one of the most powerful, must see films for anyone interested in the behind the scenes world of the food industry, and how just one world dominating corporation holds the keys and patents to much of the worlds food supply.
- We also told you about how Monsanto is Betting on the Hungry to Double its Profits by 2012.
In a world with only so many food acres, the trend is being able to increase the yield of crops per acre. This is often accomplished by genetically modifying the seeds that Monsanto’s owns and patents.
Most of these seeds are created so that after planting, the resulting crops do not seed. This ensures that farmers have no more seeds to plant the following year, and are forced to buy again from Monsanto.
Now, the company is saying that they plan on doubling their profits by 2012, and as part of it’s marketing strategy, the company said it will also distribute seeds to African farmers “royalty-free.” Chief Executive Hugh Grant, said “Satisfying the demand curve is a great business opportunity.”
In other words, Monsanto plans to feed them for free the first year so they will have to come back to back for more.

Monsanto seeds cross pollinated with the farmers crops, producing plants that carry genes that are patented. Mansanto maintains that regardless of what happened, it now owns the farmers crops, and if the farmer wants to sell those crops, he owes them money.
We reported on an interview between Monsanto’s C.E.O Hugh Grant and National Public Radio’s Kai Ryssdal. The most interesting part of the interview came during the last five seconds, where Mr. Grant was quoted as saying that he actually buys organic!

In the flurry of GMO’s causing organ failure and the worlds attention on Haiti there’s one HUGE piece of Monsanto related news that was swept under the rug. The day after the Haiti earthquake former Monsanto executive & lobbyist Michael Taylor was appointed to the head of the FDA as Deputy Commissioner of Food. Michael Taylor is the guy responsible for the ban of labeling GMO foods and approving rBGH during his revolving door stint in the FDA during the Clinton administration.

President Obama and his family won’t eat GMO foods. Neither did the Bush family. Even a Monsanto employee cafeteria rejects it. If Monsanto employees won’t even eat this mutant “food”, why in the world should anyone else?

Monsanto reigns above the laws of humanity: Sadly, with my heart condition, longevity is not a concern, but for my grandchildren I fear the great power granted the corporatists by the laws of incorporation in the U.S. These laws must be understood properly then feared by all with this knowledge! China will soon dominate and coerce even the American corporatist. Thank God! For an idea of just how much power these bastards have, Google, torrent the movie, “Who Stole The Electric Car” and study it well! Ford Motor Car sold the 1973 Pinto,”Firebomb” to unsuspecting Americans, killed many of them, and all in good corporate faith, on behalf the shareholders – they (corporatists) decided to pay the lawsuits, this being cheaper than changing the car! Goons in suits! Beware American! They dwell among us today, they are predators, with no morals and a cash-box for a heart, and the law is on their side! Folks like this in China get a bullet to the temple in public and their organs are harvested on the spot! No Bull Shiite protection afforded! Check out the tainted milk scandal in China for proof! Wow – a lot of negativity and fear mongering here. One point that wasn’t mentioned above is that through these genetic improvements to common crops the average output per acre in North American corn has TRIPLED since my parents started farming with record crops being produced year after year to ensure a SAFE, CHEAP AND SECURE food source for us and adding to the profitability of the farmers. If you want to pay three times as much for non-GMO food, farmers will supply it as they are business men not charities. You want change, speak with your wallet as it is the only voice you have that will make a change.
Educated, you talk a good talk, but what you don’t say is that while we cant feed today’s populations on standard farming practices, half the food we eat, we shouldn’t be eating and 1/3rd of the food we buy, we throw away.
So the answer is Eat Better, Eat Less, Grow Gardens and go back to healthy farming.
Anyone who says that we cant feed the planet with healthy food, so it’s ok to grow unhealthy food, is full of shit. Sorry, just calling it like I see it.
Adam, I think you missed my point. If you want change you need to do so with your wallet as corporations in all markets don’t care what you think, they care about what you BUY. Business is business and supplies what is demanded.
I do agree with you, grow a garden and eat less – this won’t change the demand for feed for livestock, fuel and about the 10,000 plus products in the grocery store that contain corn products alone.
They even make a biodegradable, high quality carpet out of corn now (this is DuPont – who happens to own Pioneer, the largest seed company in the world).
Tell me, Oh Educated One; how do I tell a GMO ear of corn from a non-GMo? and even if I bought this from a local organic farmer, how do I know if the corn wasn’t pollinated by “drift” from another’s field? and even if the yields are ten fold that of your parents, what possible good is it if it is suicide by fork? It’s great that my belly is full of poison! I used to pay NOTHING for my seeds, but soon we will all be forced to grovel at the almighty altar of Monsanto. What God giveth, Monsanto taketh! Pandora’s box indeed!!!
