When I was growing up, we had one fast food place and that was called “Burger Chef.” Burger Chef went out of business in the 70’s I think. There is another “burger joint” in that town called “Rays.” Rays is a privately owned location that’s been around since my mom was in school, and it only has one location. It still has the ice cream machine that can spin up any one of about a dozen flavors of milk shakes, the best french fries in the world and burgers to die for. It has a picnic table outside, but that’s the only seating.

I’m glad it’s still there, but unfortunately, I’m sure the home town McDonalds get’s more business.

As for the tasting good part, I hadn’t had a fast food burger in about two years. Last night we were in a hurry on the turnpike and stopped at a BK. I used to work at BK and remember loving their burgers. I ordered a cheeseburger feeling very guilty but kind of looking forward to it. It was horrible. Absolutely tasteless except for a greasy taste.

Maybe it just takes a lot of time for our taste buds to adjust to what food is and isn’t supposed to taste like.

You gotta love our NE region on the map. I think there’s a McD’s about every mile – sometimes less – around me.
