On the streets of Copenhagen, we asked 20 people from around the world one simple question and got very different answers… “How Would You Address Climate Change?”

Why is that such a hard question?

Lower human impact to sustainable levels by choosing to live differently… with less. I realize this is nearly impossible of course because most people are not willing to move away from the extremely modern and convenient society we’ve built.

This also surfaces the sad truth of the problem… we either choose to live sustainably on our little planet or our inaction will choose for us. Either way Humans will evolve by using our cleverness to adapt to a sustainable existence… the choice we have in front of us today simply decides how many of us will evolve.

Right? Seems simply logical and reasonable to me.

Apparently this question leaves a lot of people speechless.

For me addressing climate change starts with my home, garden, and community and with everyday family choices and decisions. What will I do?
- Eat less meat.
- Buy locally grown food.
- Support sustainable farming.
- Drive less miles.
- Garden organically.
- Reduce my trash.
- Be happy with what I have.
- Insulate my home.
- Turn down my thermostat.
- Choose energy efficient appliances when I need to replace them.
- Use CFL and LED light bulbs.
- Consider carbon offsetting.
- Look for ethical investments which support sustainable solutions.

It has to start with learning what is possible for each of us. What choices are available to us and what impact do those choices have? I think once we understand the choices making the changes is easy.

the most effective action is non action
dont beget-6 billion are already an excess
dont fly -drive or better take a train or bus
dont eat meat -critters are fine alive in natural settings
or if meat seems impossible to do without take up bowhunting or spear fishing where the odds are more even
feedlots are hell for critters and hell for the planet
amazon is falling/burning to grow feed for cows and pigs !!?
grow your own veggies not tomatoes from 3000 miles away
dont do the mall -be content with a book in a nook
the kingdom of heaven is in you -all the sages bark alike
