Dear Andrew the organic maven.
Quote - (Here in Australia, we are the last country in the world with a ‘clean’ bee population,) unquote.

I would not agree with your statement above. Have you heard of Africa country like Uganda? Our honeybees are still resilient to bee viruses as well. Please do correct me if I am wrong. :)

Honey bee disappearance is the very reason I started my company in Florida. It's nice to see such intelligent discussion about our most precious resource. Thank you.

Here in Australia, we are the last country in the world with a 'clean' bee population, and consequently we export a couple of pallets of hives each week to the US to use in your Californian orchards.

This is all well and good, but of course it's only a matter of time before the mites arrive here and infect our bee population.

Now you'd think the Governments and scientists of the world would be clambering to investigate ways to sort this out, but no, we've got 1 scientist dedicated to this necessary research.

Can someone tell me how we are going to pollinate all our crops without bees, or does the Monsanto Master Plan for World Food and Crop Domination sort that out too?

Adam:

Andrew, on you're suggestion, I saw the Monsanto documentary. Anyone who hasnt seen this yet, absolutely should. It's Eye Opening.

A while ago, I heard an interview with Hugh Grant, Mansanto C.E.O., and even he, who's job it is to make G.M. foods sound safe, couldn't help but scare the hell out of me.

Thanks for you're post Andrew. And for those who haven't checked out Andrew's website, please do. Its http://www.1466group.com

You're damn right I'm right. Sadly, my entire post didn't make it onto the web.

My assertion is that people should get rid of their cell phones to find out if it is the cell phones that are causing the problem. Not using the phones would be a protest that would leave the towers inactive or maybe get them dismantled – either way we might save the bees.

I've done what I suggest. I have no cell phone. I invite you to do the same.

Follow my convoluted logic a little further and you'll see that greens will not give up their cell phones. Nor will they stop traveling thousands of miles to make giant bonfires in the desert. Nor will they give up intercourse to reduce petrochemical use in condom manufacture. They won't stop going to art school or buying recreational camping equipment and clothes made from synthetic fabric. Tents and artificial fleece are made from dinosaur bones, pumped from deep within the earth at great cost.

If the bee problem doesn't turn out to be a quick and popular fix. If it doesn't allow for the punishment of anonymous business interests, but instead requires that green have to give up their personal luxuries, then the bees will be toast.

Captain,

You're right, cell phone towers and the trace amounts of radiation that they emit, is one theory behind Colony Collapse Disorder. (Which is, in laymen's terms, when bee's leave hive and never come back.) Another theory is that Genetically Modified Crops and overuse of Pesticides and Chemicals like the "Terminator" that Roundup uses, are to blame.

I think it's a number of things happening simultaneously. How "feel good immigration" and "polymer based condoms" fit into the Colony Collapse Disorder, I'm not sure.

Yes we are. Instead of investing in old worn out ideas, we need to be coming up with new ones. Vertical Farming is coming around and you can plant 50 acres of crops on one acre of ground. The initial start-up is costly, but long term benefits are to great to put a dollar value on.

When I hear things like, there are only so many farm-able acres on the planet and we cant grow enough food to feed everyone, so we have to have to use G.M to grow more, and more chemicals..... I just want to scream.

I read about this awhile back. The big wig companies think GM fields are the answer to our food woes, yet here we are worse than ever before. Obviously there are many reasons the bee population is depleting, but I do feel that we are our own worst enemy no matter how you look at it.

Some folks think that it is cell phones. That it is the frequencies. If you care about honey bees than you'd better ditch your phone.

What? Stop feel good immigration and get rid of cell phones to save the planet? No thanks! I'd rather drive my low-emission vehicle to burning man and waste polymer based condoms with recreational intercourse.

What do you reckon is the total carbon and poison byproduct from paint and paper manufacture? Think of the environmental damage we could avoid if we outlawed Art School. Sara P
