[...] Monsanto (agriculture giant) has made the list of the Twelve Least Ethical Companies… and they won first place. Genetically modified foods are a hot topic in the controversial field of nutrition and food. My point of view is that they already lead to a myriad of existing problems and more will continue to present themselves. Monsanto not only designs frankenfoods, they unfairly sue small farmers who try and grow food ethically. Even if the suits are not successful, by the time the small farmer is through paying their lawyers, they are finished, thus achieving Monsanto’s goal. Book recommendation: The World According to Monsanto by Marie-Monique Robin. This is also a documentary. [...]

[...] The finding that corn produced by one of the world’s agricultural giants could cause organ failure has been met with obvious concern by food activists and consumers alike. It’s not the first bout of negative publicity for Monsanto, which has been vilified for everything from producing Agent Orange, intimidating farmers, using aggressive tactics to squeeze out competition, pressuring farmers to be dependent on their products, and strongly promoting the use of genetically modified seeds here and abroad. It has been negatively portrayed in films such as “Food, Inc.” and “The World According To Monsanto”. [...]

It seems to me that there is a straw man argument being set up that the alternative to GMO is Organic. That is not the case. Traditional farming with pesticides continues to be a viable option to roundup ready crops.

Another issue is the personification of a Corporation. This is silly on so many levels. The individuals making these criminal decisions need to be prosecuted and the individuals being harmed need to take precedence over a the legal fiction that a corporation is a human being. A corporation is not even the representation of a human being like a community, a country or even a church.

If a corporation is found guilty of a crime against a person it should be dis-incorporated and it's officers should be charged not just civilly but criminally,

I found the segment in the monsanto documentary with jonathan matthews of GM watch(UK)especially compelling.Imagine these companies using fake people with fake names using fake dialogue between one another on the net to discredit critics of biotech.Absolutely shameless.
