Recently the U.S. government announced that it is accepting applications for a piece of some $3 Billion in government grants to develop renewable energy projects. The grants are intended to make direct payments to companies in lieu of already available tax credits. Ideally, the grants will support around 5,000 renewable energy production facilities, including biomass, solar, wind and others.

Five of America’s Best Bike Tours, Coast to Coast
by Greenopia
We’ve done a lot of articles on more passive vacations. Going to beaches, hanging out, and swimming a bit is awesome, but there are some people whose idea of the perfect vacation involves a little more sweat. A bike tour is one of the best ways to see interesting parts of the country up close and personal, while getting a little exercise in the bargain. BMW Project i EV Due In 2012.
By Eco Tech Daily
BMW, one of my favorite automobile manufacturers because they do it right, is hoping to come out with what they are calling the City/Project i in 2012 or 2013. It will be a small little city car (smaller than the Honda Fit) and will be powered by an electric motor, meeting California’s Zero-Emission-Vehicle (ZEV) requirements. The electricity for the car will be stored in a water-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to provide a 100-mile range – perfect for those city dwellers among us who still want to ride in style. BMW wants it to cost less than their Mini Cooper (still my favorite car I have ever owned), so I would expect prices to start well under $20,000.
