Take That, Climate Skeptics! Obama Chooses Climate Specialist as Science Advisor

It’s great to see a President who is committed in trying to help save the environment, and President Elect Obama took one more green step in that direction on Saturday by by naming John Holdren, an energy and climate specialist, as the new White House science adviser.

Holdren is a Harvard University physicist who has focused on the causes and consequences of climate change and advocated policies aimed at sustainable development.

Obama made the announcement in the Democratic weekly radio and video address, saying “Today, more than ever before, science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation. It’s time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and worked to restore America’s place as the world leader in science and technology.”

I just hope that President Elect Obama can stop the flood of environmental devastation and “resource grabbing at any cost” philosophy that has been so inherent in the Bush administration as evident in his latest rounds of Midnight Regulations.
