Shell is Busy Today Cleaning up its Mess – 1,400 Barrels in the Gulf

Shell - Bluecoats

Royal Dutch Shell is working today to clean up 14,000 gallons of oil off the coast of Louisiana.

In yet another environmental “accident”, Shell discovered on Saturday that its Eugene Island pipeline spilled 1,400 barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Two skimmer ships are working to clean up oil from the spill, which occurred around 60 miles southwest of Houma, Louisiana.

Divers are headed to the scene and planners studied repair options, Shell said. In an effort to not spill in the same spot twice, (sarcasm) Shell will study alternative routes for the crude.

We suggest that Shell invest in new technologies, (like algae fuel) and stop poisoning our planet.

Correction–1400 barrels, equivalent of 59000 gallons of crude, comparable to the Cosco Busan hitting the Golden Gate bridge a few years back. Big mess, big coverup. Oil slick, tarballs on the beach, bad fish.
