Clean Coal USA, a Pro Coal Lobby Group, used other groups names to send letters to Congress, asking them to vote against the Clean Energy Bill.

By now you’ve probably heard about the DC-based lobbying firm that sent utterly forged letters to Virginia Congressman Tom Perriello urging him to oppose landmark global warming legislation.
The letters claimed to be from a Hispanic non-profit and the Virginia chapter of the NAACP. But these groups had never even seen the letters, much less sent them.
Faking letters from ethnic groups to oppose climate legislation? How low will opponents of clean energy stoop?
Well, the scandal doesn’t end there.
Just yesterday we learned who financed this deception campaign–none other than American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, the coal industry’s top front group.
Two days before Congress voted on the global warming bill, ACCCE was fully aware its lobby firm had sent a blatantly forged letter to Rep. Perriello. And yet it did nothing.
It also turns out that Rep. Perriello wasn’t the only one to receive fake letters. Pennsylvania Congress members Kathy Dahlkemper and Christopher Carney also received forged letters opposing clean energy legislation. Both representatives voted against the bill.

“My organization Creciendo Juntos represents minorities in your district. You are about to vote on important environmental legislation (the Waxman-Markey bill),” reads one to Rep. Tom Perrielo. “We ask you to help protect minorities and other consumers in your district from higher electricity bills.” It’s signed by “Marisse K. Acevado, Asst Member Coordinator.”
You all know how Twilight Earth feels about Big Coal and Oil. Let the record reflect that they are abusers of the financial systems, political systems, the environment, peoples health and well being, liars, cheats, and a whole bunch of other things that I won’t subject our readers to.
Clean Coal USA, you did it to yourself. You’ve been judged and found guilty.
