WINDSPIRE® WIND TURBINE POWERS OKLAHOMA’S FIRST ECO EXPRESS CAR WASH
We’ve been writing about Windpire for a while now, a propeller free wind turbine built for home and commercial use. It’s a relatively new concept, but one that is catching on quickly.
Well, A Windspire wind turbine is now powering the first Eco Express Car Wash in Oklahoma, an eco-friendly car wash that promises to have a smaller environmental impact than traditional car washes. The Windspire was installed on July 13th and will provide clean energy to the new car wash. In addition to creating their own clean energy with the Windspire, Eco Express Car Wash uses environmentally friendly chemicals and reclaimed water to wash cars. Solar panels will also be installed at the Oklahoma City car wash, the first of many Eco Express Car Wash locations planned throughout Oklahoma.
Eco Express Wash co-owners, Garland Bell and Brad Peak, also expect the 30-foot tall vertical design of the Windspire to attract people to his new business venture. “We think the unique design of the Windspire spinning out front is going to make people notice our new car wash,” said Bell. “It’s going to generate electricity and business for us.”
The Windspire wind turbine is a 30-foot tall, propeller-free, vertical-axis wind turbine designed for harnessing wind power in urban, suburban and rural locations. It is the most affordable alternative energy appliance in the 1 kilowatt range, costing about $9,000 to $12,000 after installation but prior to a 30 percent federal small wind tax credit. Mariah Power recently announced a high wind version of the Windspire for use in extreme wind conditions and is scheduled to announce additional Windspire products in the next several weeks.
“Eco Express Wash is a great example of a green business, “said Mike Hess, CEO of Windspire parent-company Mariah Power. “We look forward to a great relationship with Garland and Brad as they bring Eco Express Car Washes and Windspires to other parts of Oklahoma.”
Manufactured in the U.S. by Mariah Power, Windspire turbines are propeller-free, vertical-axis designs that feature patented technology that maximizes energy conversion from wind into electric power, regardless of changing wind speed and direction. The Windspire portfolio includes a 1.2 kW version and a special High Wind version. Later this year, Mariah Power will introduce multiple new products based on the Windspire technology including: off-grid capabilities, 240V energy output, larger rotors and a system that is able to generate more energy at lower wind speeds. The Windspire has been featured in Fortune, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and on “20/20”, CNN and NPR.
