Climate Action Plan B: – An Ark on the National Mall

ark on the mall

As the Copenhagen climate talks unfold, people will gather on the National Mall for Climate Plan B: The Ark.

Right now, Governments of 192 countries are thrashing out the most important international treaty of our generation: our global response to climate change.

But it’s right here in the Capitol that some of the most important battles are being fought. Next week the US could lead the world to an ambitious climate deal — or we could be an insurmountable barrier to progress: so much will depend on the situation at home.

That’s why The Action Factory is planning a special, fun event here in DC this Saturday. They are building a giant Ark on the National Mall, that is jokingly being called the ‘Climate Plan B’.

They will gather this Saturday at 4pm at the ark for a huge candlelight vigil calling for ‘Plan A’: a fair, ambitious and binding climate deal.

National media will be there, and they are inviting you to be there too.

The situation in Copenhagen changes daily. In just the last week, India announced a carbon intensity reduction target, and President Obama made a significant announcement that he will attend the leader-level stage of the Copenhagen summit.

Nobody knows what the outcome will be — but we do know what whatever happens the US will be key. Now, more than ever, our voices can make the difference in Copenhagen between political maneuvering and a Real Deal.

The Ark on the National Mall will be a bold statement about the need for a Real Deal in Copenhagen in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. It will also serve as an interactive wall on which anyone passing by can write a message about their hopes for the Copenhagen climate talks.

This will be one of the biggest events taking place worldwide as part of the “World Wants a Real Deal” global day of action. Let’s make it huge!

P.S. The ark is under construction now and they could use some help! Sign up here to help them build the Ark or help our with other Copenhagen actions.

the hard reality of the biosphere health prescription is simple;
there are just too many humans with very big feet
the cure- continence and simple living -this is the path
the saints -like jesus buddha st francis gandhi have trod
is the one path out of the swamp of population induced global warming and biosphere depletion-it relies on no technical tricks
and costs no dollars or yen
the payoff for those who walk this path is the unlimited
riches of the spiritual world -infinity, nirvana, heaven
not bad at the price!
