Hey Adam,
A couple of friends and myself want to explore the possibility of making it larger than u have...we plan to make use of containers that are capable of holding over 500 gallons each and producing bio-diesel on a small scale as a proof of concept so that our community can apply it on a production scale. We have the funds and everything, but i'd love to know the major bumps you hit on the way, and also how far did u get. Were u able to produce any fuel as such?
Thanks,
Love your design.

This may be an alternative to foreign oil, and the ethanol dream that spikes food prices, but how are carbon emissions addressed?

Steven -

Here's a great link for another prototype: <a href="http://abe.sdstate.edu/faculty/garyanderson/website/pbr_prototype.html" title="Photobioreactor" rel="nofollow">

The SOLIX link above has more information as well.</a>

Adam, I am not trying to dampen the parade, but all I see is a lot of pictures and no data. Please understand where I am coming from. Need some hard data.

Hello Adam, I received an email from this gentlemen and a link to his site. I took a look at it and I passed on doing a post for Chemically Green at this time. The site is pretty, sounds interesting, but seems a little short on information. Let's see some verified scientific evidence to what is actually going on with his process and CG will be glad to work with him. I am from Missouri and I would want to see scientific data and then jump on the band wagon.
Special wishes for a great 2009.

Great article! I love the idea that we could all be pootling about fuelled by home-grown green slime! That could give the oil giants something to chew on.

Thank you for this great article.
I am always interested about alternative energy, but it's the first time i heard about algae. Thank you again.
