This Eclectic Life came up with a great way to help people less fortunate than us, this Holiday Season. She launched a “Matching Cans For Comments” article.
Well, the idea took off and withing a few days, there was a new post on her site, saying ”
I have two non-bloggers who will match my donation (39 at this very moment).
Not only that, but Marcia at RV Poetry will match me can for can to the food bank in her area, plus a can for every comment on her blog (I’ll match you right back!).
Not only that, but her generous son and daughter-in-law will match our donations!!!
The one minute you spend to make a comment will give FIVE CANS TO A FOOD BANK!
When all was said and done, the grand tally was 720 cans of food!
I’ve got to tell you, this type of selfless action to help others is truly inspiring. I’d like to personally thank each and every person involved in this. I’ve seen this type of thing done before, but I have never personally witnessed something like this taking off so quickly and successfully, through one persons simple idea and no logistical or organizational backing.
When we think of the “Environment” we tend to think of plants and animals, oceans and air, but there are many different types of “Environments.” There is a social environment that we all share. This environment needs our care and nurturing also, because if we don’t care about each other, how can we care about anything else?

Thank you so much for the kind words! I do have to admit that it wasn’t an original idea. I hopped on the bandwagon with some bloggers in Vancouver. I was pretty darned pleased, though, to receive a respectable number of comments (though I’d have donated anyway. This is really fabulous. And I agree with you 100% about caring for our social environment. People need to be sustained, too. If we neglect people in favor of doing green good, then our priorities are a little out of whack.
