Trash Company Pays Customers Per Pound of Recycle Material

AAA recycling and Trash Removal Services is going to pay customers for every pound of recyclable material that they put in their recycling bins.

In a mailing that I received from the company today, it explained that:

You have been selected to participate in the RecycleBank Program and you will receive a 64-Gallon wheeled cart which is equipped with a bar-code and radio frequency identification (RFID) chip mounted on the body. You can place ALL of your recyclable materials in this cart. Our trucks are retrofitted to read the RFID chip and weigh the contents of your cart.

The flyer goes on to explain that the cart will be weighed and every pound of weight will be transferred into “Reward Points”, which can be redeemed at places like CVS, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath and Beyond, Panera Bread etc…

How cool is that!?

So apparently I’m part of the roll out, and all the locals should have their carts by May of 2009.  How did I get chosen?  Maybe because we only have one or two small bags of trash in the trash can, and our recycling bin floweth over every week? I mean, we recycle everything down to the toilet roll tubes.

No more going to the community recycling bin once a month because there is not enough room for everything in the little bucket they give us!
